Fly Fishing for me has always been about finding a little bit of solitude. If I don't find quiet solitude the experience is significantly different. I can catch hundreds of fish but if I do not find some reverent solitude the experience falls short. My soul remains untouched and is not satisfied.
Finding solitude on our river is becoming more and more difficult. It seems everyone wants to fly fish and catch fish. What can we do? What can I do? What can I say? To speak on the issue and any possible solution does not solve the issue.
Therefore, I will remain quiet, and hike myself and a client or two, farther and farther in the upper reaches of canyons and meadow streams.
